NOTE: The rigors of this class in this particular semester involved the creation of

a COVID-compliant streaming production of the musical revue Fugitive Songs with the strictest of individualized production procedures in order to keep cast members safe:

-
The audition process was completely remote.
-
Students could not directly interact in person with each other.
-
All rehearsals, even those involving music, had to be done over Zoom using customized tracks.
-
Recording sessions were handled one actor at a time, with voices and harmonies mixed in post-production.
-
For the majority of the footage, actors were all filmed individually on green screen with cameras operated from a separate location.
-
Additional footage used in the video was captured by students themselves and then submitted to the editor.
Needless to say, the task was a Herculean one for every individual involved. Regardless of the challenge, the actors gave their utmost effort to create a product that looked nothing like the rather bland standard that we saw for “COVID-based theatre productions.” I am still incredibly proud and astounded at what we were able to produce with this cast and production team.
Focus on the process of preparation for performance in a produced play. Includes attention to the audition process, script and character analysis, daily rehearsals, technical theatrical preparations including technical and dress rehearsals for public performances.
